Background information
Rita Bueno Maia is assistant professor of Hispanic and translation studies in the School of Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal and a member of the Research Centre for Communication and Culture. She holds a PhD in translation history and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies CEAUL/ULICES between 2014 and 2016. Her postdoctoral project "The Moveable Feast: Literature in Portuguese Exile" (SFRH/BPD/97092/2013) deals with popular novels, translated and non-translated, published in Portuguese in Paris by the mid-nineteenth century. She has recently co-edited How Peripheral is the Periphery? Translating Portugal back and forth: Essays in honour of João Ferreira Duarte (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2015) and Los límites del Hispanismo: nuevos métodos, nuevas fronteras, nuevos géneros (Peter Lang, 2017). She is the co-coordinator of the research project "IndirecTrans2: Translation Policies In Indirect Cultural Exchanges".
